Rehabilitation Centre
All senior citizen housing projects under Hong Kong Housing Society (HKHS) integrate a full suite of professional healthcare, medical, and rehabilitation facilities and services within a single building, featuring an on-site residential care home. They offer a full spectrum of continuous care that supports tenants’ health needs across all stages from independent living to assisted living and, ultimately to full dependency.
As tenants age and their health conditions change, and daily life requires requires more professional healthcare and home support, they can visit medical and rehabilitation services, as well as residential care homes, within the same building. These facilities and services are also available to individuals in the wider community who are in need.
Currently, The Tanner Hill Joyous Circle at the Tanner Hill in North Point, Jolly Place Care Home at the Jolly Place in Tseung Kwan O, and Cheerful Court Care Home at the Cheerful Court in Ngau Tau Kok all operate professional care facilities managed by the HKHS, while the related facilities at Blissful Place in Hung Hom are operated by a contractor.
Located on the 6th floor of The Tanner Hill, and supported by a multi-disciplinary team consisting of social workers, nurse, physiotherapists, occupational therapists and care workers, it provides holistic, high-quality care services and cognitive training, incorporating a diverse range of creative training and rehabilitation exercises into our regular programmes to maintain senior members’ ability to live independently within the community while supporting their overall physical and mental well-being.
In May 2023, the centre is recognized as "the Winner of Day Care Centre - Facility of the year" by Ageing Asia at the 11th Asia Pacific Eldercare Innovation Awards, also known as the "Oscars" in the eldercare sector.
All senior housing projects under HKHS feature an on-site rehabilitation centre, where physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and nurses conducts assessments and renders therapeutic services for the residents, assisting them to restore physical functions, improving their quality of life, and strengthening their self-care abilities. Services include:
Physiotherapy helps residents restore physical functions and delay the effects of ageing. Through stretching, weight training and functional training, physiotherapists correct posture, improve balance, and enhance mobility for individuals with restricted movement. Combined with electrotherapy, manual therapy and acupuncture, etc. to relieve pain and reduce the limitations caused by various painful conditions.
Occupational therapy is a form of rehabilitation designed for individuals with temporary or permanent physical or mental impairments, with the primary goal of enabling them to participate in daily life and activities. Through tailored activities and treatment plans, occupational therapists enhance both physical and cognitive abilities of residents in need to prevent injuries and illnesses and improve self-care skills. They also modify environments to support residents’ engagement in daily life, thereby improving their quality of life and assisting their reintegration into family and social roles.
